London Youth Rowing (LYR) exists to get young people physically active and open up the benefits of rowing to underrepresented groups. Our programmes, which have been running for over 15 years, provide opportunities for young people to experience the physical and mental health benefits of rowing. We support young people to develop new skills, build confidence and be independent. We help young people to fulfil their potential and experience success. We are inclusive - half of our participants are female, 10% have SEND and nearly 70% come from an ethnic minority. We engage young people to be physical active through rowing, build their life skills and giving them the opportunity to learn through competition. Our programmes across London work with more than 60 state secondary schools and in 2019/20 we worked with over 5,500 young people. Later this year we will be launching a new city-wide programme in Leeds. We have a team of 15 full time employees. You can learn more at www.londonyouthrowing.com
